Maya's & Shayna's Bat Mitzvah is set for November 28, 2009!

Shayna Nowicki and Maya Leseten have been friends forever, and now they are planning their Bat Mitvahs together, along with their more reasonable parents, of course.  This website is for our relatives and friends to follow the development of this important event in our girls' lives.

The girls have been studying with Rabbi Kerry Baker of Congregation Kol Halev and studying their Hebrew with Amy Adler.  The Bat Mitzvah is when girls aged 13 become obligated to observe the commandments and ceremony, including participation in the services of the congregation and attending ceremony formally mark their assumption of that obligation.

The important plans that have been made as of February 1 are as follows:
     • The color scheme has been planned for months by the girls: lime green, yellow, and navy blue.
     • The theme the girls selected is “saving animals”.
     • Shayna’s Mitzvah project is the volunteering at the annual PKD Walk
     • The Bat Mitzvah Service and the Kiddush Luncheon are scheduled at the Dell Jewish Community Center.
     • The girls’ Torah portion is Va-yetzei from the Book of Genesis.

As these plans develop, we the parents of these delightful girls will use this site to post our plans and milestones and the girls' preparations for their ceremony.
